United Nations Transparency, Accountability, and Reform Act of 2013

H.R.3155
Introduced:
September 19, 2013
113
First
September 19, 2013
Referred to House (sub)committee

This bill would change the U.S. relationship with the UN, specifically increasing U.S. influence by way of conditions on future contributions and other mechanisms.

It is largely irrelevant to Israel, the Palestinians, and the Arab-Israeli conflict, but there is one passage on U.S. support for UNRWA. It states that the U.S. would withhold all contributions to UNRWA, which have averaged $100 m. since 2007, unless the secy. of state could make a series of certifications. The central goal of this reform is to use U.S. influence to ensure UNRWA is complying with various transparency-promoting measures and other measures designed to promote tolerance and impartiality among its employees.
