January 9, 2018
115
Second
April 26, 2018
Passed in House

Designed to provide “the Trump administration with the tools necessary to hold Iranian government officials responsible for human rights violations, corruption, and censorship,” according to a press release McCaul’s office, this bill would expand and strengthen sanctions on Iranian human rights abusers. Specifically, it would direct the president to identify Iranian persons responsible or complicit in the intimidation, abuse, extortion, detention, or trial of U.S. citizens or permanent residents in Iran or Iranian persons outside of Iran. Any such persons would be denied entry to the U.S. and blocked from making transactions of U.S. property. The president would be authorized to impose similar sanctions on the immediate family of any listed person as well.
